Nearly 10,000 people live on this small island, where the ancient city was first built. There are 90-year-old couples returning from the north, Taiwanese businessmen who come and go spring and autumn like the rare species of Black-faced Spoonbill on the island, fishermen who go out to sea, seafood store hostesses who receive goods from these fishermen, and boats that don't stop. Every dawn, 32-year-old Zhang Weipeng was awakened by birds, and then he was busy at his own resort in Nanhai, Shicheng Island. Clean the yard, trim flowers and branches, care about food and vegetables in the kitchen, and welcome a group of guests.
From time to time, he looked at the weather information on his mobile phone because the wind was above level 8 at sea and the ferry was about to stop sailing, so the guests could only be surprised.
This is the seventh year that Zhang Weipeng returned to his home city of Shicheng Island. When he was 14 years old, he left the island alone, went to Zhuanghe City to study, and then went further and further to Anshan and Beijing to study. He also had the opportunity to travel to Tibet, Maldives and other places because of his job. "Big cities have more opportunities, but the pressure is greater than small places". Zhang Weipeng, a northbound drifter, is always concerned about the flavor of sea salt in his home town, the sweet shrimp sauce, and weak parents.
In 2014, Zhang Weipeng returned to Shicheng Island with his love and business dream. The choice between him and his wife, Zhao Qian, is to open a holiday lodging on the island. Zhang Weipeng thought that although the individual residence is not big, it can become a window, "through these windows, you can see the development and change of the whole countryside". Now there are about 70 large and small dormitories on Shicheng Island, waiting for visitors from all directions in the cool summer days.

The year of 2015, when accommodation opened its doors for guests, has been the year of the media explosion. So Zhang Weipeng and Zhao Qian hold them when they are not busy DV Take pictures everywhere to record the changes and beauty of the island: the old port of Zhuang River has become a 10,000-ton deep water port whose navigation is no longer subject to tides. The cement road in front of the dormitory has been replaced by a flat asphalt road. The islanders can buy special food and novelty from all over the country. The guests eat shellfish they have dug back to the sea. The fireworks that blossom under the night sky make the children laugh... One short film was uploaded to the platform of WeChat, Tremble and so on, which won numerous approvals and virtually became the new business card of Shicheng Island.
Beyond the wall of Zhang Weipeng's two little couples'dormitory is a Taiwanese-style dormitory. The main restaurant is not seafood, but authentic Taiwanese dishes. On the small blackboard, halogen rice is greatly labeled. The hostel landlady, Zhang Qian, is from Shicheng Island. Her husband Yang Liheng is from Taiwan.
The couple went from spring to autumn like the rare Black-faced Spoonbill on the island. "Black-faced Spoonbill is very famous on our side. There may only be less than 5,000 Spoonbill in the world. Tainan is a fixed wintering place for Black-faced spoonbill. It is unexpected that the breeding place should be in my wife's home town." Yang Liheng shared his feelings when he first came to Shicheng Island and found the relationship really wonderful.
It is his nostalgia for the special Taiwanese food such as the brand halogen rice launched by the lodging house. Earlier, he would bring food from Taiwan's big and small bundles to the island. Now he is mature enough to spend a lot of e-commerce shopping. "What ingredients and utensils are needed, you can order them directly. It's very convenient!"

Express into the island to get home, so that Zhao Qian can eat home flavor thousands of miles away. She often buys Shandong pancakes and biscuit tofu at Pindo. By the end of 2020, the multi-purpose vegetable shopping business was also launched on the island, which made Zhao Qian more and more happy with the convenience of life at the moment, but also greatly enriched the food list prepared by the two younger residents for the lodging guests. On June 29th alone, she received 22 items, ranging from green peppers, cucumbers, Dandong iron persimmons to lemons, blueberries and Hainan's taro fruits, full of two bags, "because they are fresh, cheap and convenient."
Zou Ling, who lives in the "central area" of the island, also frequently buys clothes and snacks online for her children. "Children are fussy about food, but islanders don't like seafood at all." Zou Ling, with her own children, runs a seafood specialty store and makes a living from scratch every day. Zou Ling has found life much easier since she bought more vegetables on the island. "Three kidney beans are sold on the island and one group purchase is more. It's basically half the price."
She is counting days now, waiting for the fishing season to pass. "I used to go fishing boats to grab seafood and sell it to people around me, or to tourists on the island. I couldn't make much money year round. Over the past two years, the logistics on the island can be sent by courier. My seafood can already be sold on the mainland. Basically, customers will be able to eat it on the third day of the first day. Now you all know that the seafood on Shicheng Island is delicious!"

Jiang's boss, named Jiang Fuyi, was born in 1978. He was robust, dark and always had a smile on his face. One mouth was "oyster flavor", a typical image of an island man. He is from Changhai County, but for Shicheng Island, he is not a stranger. Because Shicheng Island was under the jurisdiction of Changhai County until Jiang Fuyi was 25 years old, it was later assigned to the Zhuang River.
2017 In 2001, Jiang Fuyi, who is engaged in aquaculture, sought transformation and built his own island logistics company. "On islands like Shicheng Island and Wangjia Island, it is very inconvenient for islanders to shop. I want to make a change." Jiang Fuyi built a "bridge" between islanders on two islands and land cities.
6 At more than 6 am on June 26, Jiang Fuyi's mobile phone received six text messages from the weather station to inform him that the sea breeze level was changing continuously because the ferry would be grounded and the courier would not be able to enter the island. "One would say that the wind was over eight and then down to seven." Jiang Fuyi felt like riding a roller coaster. Fortunately, the ferry sailed smoothly that day.
But every time he receives a text message, Jiang Fuyi sends it to his mobile WeChat group, which are his clients on Shicheng Island and Wangjia Island seven or eight nautical miles away from Shicheng Island. The ten groups together have nearly 4,000 people. He said that timely notification of the distribution situation, so that everyone has a psychological preparation, which is also the basis for obtaining customer trust.
2017 Years ago, although the number of ferry flights between Zhuanghe Port and Shicheng Island and Wangjia Island increased a lot, there was no special cargo transport and distribution enterprise, and couriers for ordinary residents could not be delivered to the island all the time. The last kilometer of online shopping was never opened.
Starting a business was very difficult. Sometimes delivery trucks run empty and tickets drift. But Jiang Fuyi persisted. After four months, the island logistics gradually had a good reputation and no longer lost money.

More and more couriers from all over the country are drifting across the islands. After buying more vegetables and entering the island at the end of last year, the island logistics in the sorting Hall of the Zhuang River are often filled with vegetables, fruits, drinks, milk and even small potted plants with flowers. At the most time, Jiang Fuyi arranges for workers to send over 500 orders to the island.

"I'm proud that I did it!" After four years of persistence, Jiang Fuyi is very satisfied with his current job and has expectations. He is still thinking about how to sell more seafood on the island to all parts of the country through the Internet.
2021 is the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the key year to promote the revitalization of the countryside. Many remote places, such as Shicheng Island and Cliff Village, are emerging under the joint drive of a variety of new rural people and rural e-commerce, merging into the booming tide of the times and thriving.
